Microdermabrasion

Factsheet

MEDICAL MICRODERMABRASION

Medical Microdermabrasion is a skin rejuvenating procedure designed to help repair sun, aged and acne affected skin. The procedure uses fine aluminum oxide crystals of the highest purity, or a crystal encrusted wand, in conjunction with suction, to remove the dead outer skin layers, resulting in a smoother, fresher and younger looking face.

Medical Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive and non-wounding treatment that stimulates circulation and blood flow, thus encouraging collagen and elastin production and entails virtually no discomfort, down time or recovery. The treatment is not painful, has no healing time and there is almost no risk of infection.
Simplicity makes Microdermabrasion both safe and economical. It can be used as an alternative or in conjunction with Photo Rejuvenation and chemical peels.

CONDITIONS TREATABLE WITH MICRODERMABRASION

Microdermabrasion successfully treats superficial skin damage caused by aging, sun exposure or injury. Conditions treated include:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Age spots/superficial pigmentation
  • Acne scars
  • Enlarged oily pores
  • Blackheads and whiteheads
  • General exfoliation
  • Post traumatic pigmentation
  • Adjunctive to cosmetic surgery
  • Blending post-lasered skin

APPLICATION OF MICRODERMABRASION

Treatment is administered in 30 – 40 minutes by trained clinical staff. Patients require no anesthesia, need no recovery time and can return immediately to daily activities. For optimal results five to ten treatments are required, depending upon the patients skin type and condition. Treatments are performed once every two weeks.
